Welcome Back from Spring Break!

Hi everyone! I hope you had a relaxing spring break and got to spend some time with your families. I know it was a different spring break than we are used to.
We will have the same spelling words for the next two weeks as both weeks are short. The words are: eat, car, friend, off, there. You can do any word work activities any time over the next two weeks to practice these words. As well, when your child is ready to move on to the next list of popcorn words, you can go ahead and start practicing. If you would like, you can send me a video of them reading their words. Thanks for the videos I've received so far!

In LA this week, the week looks something like this: journal writing, word work, respond to a story and a making words activity. Throughout the week, children can also read to themselves or listen to stories. Every day new services are adding free audio books. I will add the links to the websites on this page.

In math this week, we will finish up numbers to 100 and do a bit of adding and subtracting review. Adding and subtracting games are fun to play any time and are good for making basic facts solid! Next week, we will begin to learn about geometry, which will be our focus for most of April, with some different adding and subtracting games thrown in for fun.

I am in the process of creating a sign-up for smaller groups to connect on Google Meet. It was fun to see everyone altogether, but our class is so large that it made it hard to talk to everyone. I will create a sign-up where we can meet as a group of 5 to chat and check in!

**A bonus activity for today that you could do if you want is to graph the weather we had in March. Students will look at their weather book and count how many days were yellow(sunny), green (partly sunny), red (snowy), purple (windy), grey (cloudy) or blue (rainy). They then colour the graph at the end of the month accordingly (you can look at past months for an example.) They could also colour the April page and write down any important days happening in April like Easter.

Happy Monday! Love Mrs. B
